Yasuj is the capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in southwestern Iran, set at high altitude in the Zagros Mountains. The city lies in a valley near the Dena range, one of the highest parts of the Zagros. Rising ground frames its map on several sides.
Yasuj is a relatively young city, so its street network is made up of broad main roads and newer residential districts rather than a dense historic core. The Beshar River flows nearby, and belts of greenery and orchards follow the water.
