Agustín Codazzi is a municipality in the Cesar Department of northern Colombia, in the valley that lies between the Serranía del Perijá and the lowlands of the Cesar river. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets on flat ground, with fields spreading out to the west and the slopes of the mountain range beginning to the east.
The town is named after Agustín Codazzi, the Italian-born geographer who led a major survey and mapping project of Colombia in the nineteenth century.
