Te mape
Anantnag lies in the southern part of the Kashmir Valley, on the plain where the Jhelum begins to gather its tributaries. From above, the town spreads across level ground at the foot of the mountains, with fields, orchards and willow-lined channels around it. The Jhelum flows past its western side, and hills rise to the east, giving the map a clear contrast between valley floor and slope.
The name is often translated as countless springs, and the town is known for them, with springs rising in and around its older quarters. The historic streets are narrow and irregular, winding between houses, mosques and markets. Newer areas follow the main roads outward, and the whole town is threaded with small streams and water channels that appear on the map as fine lines.
Anantnag is the gateway to the Lidder Valley and Pahalgam, and the ruins of the Martand Sun Temple stand on a plateau a short distance to the east. The town has long been a centre of trade and craft for south Kashmir. An Anantnag map poster shows it at the meeting of water, fields and mountains that defines this part of the valley.
Streams and water channels run through and around the town, drawn as fine threads on the map, reflecting the springs that give Anantnag its name.
The town sits on the flat valley floor, while hills and mountains rise to the east, a meeting of level ground and slope that shapes its outline.
The main road towards the Lidder Valley and Pahalgam leaves the town heading into the mountains, a line that marks Anantnag's long role as a gateway.

Aiheā Anantnag
For Kashmiris living far from the valley, and for travellers who passed through on the way to Pahalgam, Anantnag carries a particular memory of water, orchards and mountains. A map keeps that memory close in a calm, graphic form.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a family name, a place or a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Paper and Classic suit the fine detail of the springs and lanes.
