Ansonia is a small city in New Haven County, Connecticut, set in the narrow valley of the Naugatuck River. From above its shape follows the water: a band of commercial and industrial streets along the river, with residential neighbourhoods climbing the hillsides on both sides. The valley walls keep the city compact and give the street pattern a strong north–south direction.
The city grew up in the nineteenth century as an industrial town and was named after Anson Greene Phelps, a merchant who backed its development. Ansonia prospered on copper and brass manufacturing, which earned it the nickname Copper City. Mill sites and rail lines along the river still mark that industrial past on the map.
Wooded ridges separate the valley from neighbouring towns, and the Ansonia Nature Center preserves part of that woodland. An Ansonia map poster turns this valley geography into a clear, vertical composition, with the river running through the centre and streets branching up the slopes toward quieter residential areas and open woods.
The river runs through the heart of Ansonia and sets the direction of the entire city. Roads, rail and former mill sites line its banks.
Ansonia grew around the copper and brass industry in the nineteenth century. The large footprints of former industrial sites along the river remain visible in the street pattern.
Residential streets climb the valley slopes on both sides of the river, often curving to follow the terrain, which gives the edges of the map a softer, organic texture.

Ansonia is a close-knit place, and people who grew up here tend to remember its hills and river well. A map poster makes a considered gift for a new homeowner, a graduate leaving for college or someone who moved away from the valley.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be edited to show a family name, a street or a special year. Choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, with Blueprint echoing the city's industrial character.
