Baihe is a town in the northeast of Chongqing Municipality, in the mountainous hinterland far from the dense towers of the central city. The region is one of steep ridges and narrow valleys, and Baihe's streets follow the ground rather than any imposed plan. The built-up area stretches in a narrow band where the slopes flatten out enough for houses and shops.
