Bang Na is a district on the eastern side of Bangkok, where the city meets the northern edge of Samut Prakan. On a map it is defined by strong transport lines: Sukhumvit Road running toward Samut Prakan, the BTS skytrain above it, and the Bang Na–Trat road heading east with its long elevated expressway. Between them lie khlongs, housing estates and dense sois.
The Burapha Withi Expressway, which follows the Bang Na–Trat road, is often cited as one of the longest bridges in the world, stretching for more than fifty kilometres. Bang Na is also home to BITEC, one of Bangkok's large exhibition centres, and has become a major residential and commercial area as the city has spread east.
A Bang Na map poster shows how canals, main roads and small side streets combine in this part of Bangkok. The narrow sois branching off Sukhumvit create a comb-like pattern, while waterways add curving lines between them, producing a detailed and distinctive portrait of the city's growing eastern edge.
This major road leaves the district heading east, carrying the elevated expressway above it and forming one of the most prominent straight lines on the map.
Side streets branch off Sukhumvit Road at regular intervals, a comb-shaped pattern typical of Bangkok that fills much of the district between larger roads.
Canals run through the district between housing and roads, tracing thin, curving lines that recall the older waterway network of the city.

Aiheā Bang Na
Bang Na is home to many families, commuters and expatriates, and plenty of people pass through it on the way to the airport or the eastern seaboard. A poster of the district marks a part of Bangkok that is often lived in but rarely pictured.
