Congo River edge
The river curves along the city as a wide, empty field on the poster, broken by islands and sandbanks, and gives the whole sheet its strongest single shape.

Brazzaville lies on the right bank of the Congo River, where the river widens into the Pool Malebo and then narrows again before a long stretch of rapids. On the map the water is the dominant shape: a broad pale band along the city's southern and eastern edge, with Kinshasa filling the opposite shore. Few pairs of capitals anywhere stand so close together.
The city takes its name from the explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, who established a post here in 1880, and it later served as the capital of French Equatorial Africa. Its streets spread back from the river in a mix of colonial-era avenues and self-built districts on the gentle slopes inland, with the Djoué River marking the south-western edge.
A Brazzaville map poster frames that meeting of city and river. The riverside government district, the area around the Basilica Sainte-Anne and dense neighbourhoods such as Poto-Poto and Bacongo read as distinct textures, and in black and white the wide sweep of the Congo gives the composition a calm, open side that few city maps have.
The river curves along the city as a wide, empty field on the poster, broken by islands and sandbanks, and gives the whole sheet its strongest single shape.
Depending on the crop, the opposite shore shows the street pattern of Kinshasa, so a single poster can hold two capitals divided only by the river running between them.
Below the city the river narrows and drops through rapids, and the map shows the water tightening while the riverbank streets thin out where the urban area ends.

Aiheā Brazzaville
For Congolese at home and abroad, and for anyone who has crossed the river by ferry, Brazzaville's outline is personal. It works as a reminder of a neighbourhood, a school or a family house, set against the one river that defines the city.
Give the poster your own title, add a year or a name in the subtitle, and adjust the coordinates if you like. Then pick one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as HD files or a printed poster.
