Burlington lies in Middlesex County, about a dozen miles north-west of Boston. Highways define it on a map. Interstate 95, known locally as Route 128, sweeps across the town, and U.S. Route 3 meets it here, so large interchanges and ramps are some of the most striking shapes in the frame.
