Calapan sits on the northeastern shore of Mindoro, where a flat coastal plain meets Calapan Bay. From above, the city looks like a loose fan of streets opening out from the waterfront, with the port and pier forming a clear edge against the water. Further inland the grid thins into roads that run between fields and scattered neighbourhoods, and the mountains of the island's interior rise in the distance.
As the capital of Oriental Mindoro, Calapan is the island's main gateway from the north. Ferries cross the Verde Island Passage to Batangas on Luzon, so the harbour is the working heart of the map, and the main roads lead toward it. The shoreline itself is fairly gentle, with small river mouths and inlets breaking it up along the plain.
A Calapan map poster keeps all of this in plain black lines on white: the curve of the bay, the port jutting out from the coast, and the road network spreading into the lowland behind it. Leaving out colour makes the relationship between land and water easy to read, and shows how closely this provincial capital is tied to the sea routes that serve it.
The city's northern edge follows the bay, and the waterfront gives the whole composition a strong horizontal line against the open water of the passage beyond.
The port reaches out into the water and carries the crossings to Batangas, so it acts as the anchor point that the city's main roads lead toward.
Behind the centre, the streets loosen into a wide plain crossed by small rivers and rural roads before the land starts rising toward Mindoro's mountainous interior.

Aiheā Calapan
For people from Oriental Mindoro, or anyone who has made the crossing from Batangas, this map is a quiet reminder of arrival: the harbour, the bay and the streets beyond it. It suits a hallway or study where a simple, legible image works better than a photograph.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name, a wedding date or the year you moved, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It comes as a $9 digital download or a printed poster.
