Cam Ranh lies on the south-central coast of Vietnam in Khanh Hoa province, spread along the western shore of Cam Ranh Bay. On a map the bay dominates everything. It is a large, almost enclosed body of water, protected by a long peninsula to the east. The city's streets run in a narrow band between the shore, salt fields and the hills behind.
The bay's depth and shelter have made it strategically important for more than a century. The Russian Baltic Fleet anchored here in 1905 on its way to the Battle of Tsushima. Later the harbour served as a major American and then Soviet naval base. Today it remains an important naval and commercial port, and its waters carry that long history.
On the northern peninsula, Cam Ranh International Airport serves the resort city of Nha Trang, and a string of beach resorts now lines the coastal road between them. A Cam Ranh map poster shows the bay, the peninsulas and the ribbon of city along the shore together. In this composition, water and land are almost evenly balanced.
The broad, deep, sheltered bay fills the heart of the map, almost enclosed by headlands. It is the feature that has shaped the city's history and strategic value.
A long sandy strip north of the bay holds Cam Ranh International Airport. Its runways appear as crisp, straight lines beside the beaches and the coastal road.
The urban area follows the western side of the bay in a long, narrow strip. Its streets are pressed between the water and the higher ground inland.

Aiheā Cam Ranh
Many visitors first arrive on Vietnam's south-central coast through Cam Ranh, and for others it is a place of family history, service or work. A map of the bay is a clear, balanced image, easy to recognise and quietly evocative of warm water and long coastlines.
Personalise it with your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a travel date or a family name. The design is available in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Each one gives the bay and coastline a different mood.
