Camborne lies in west Cornwall, forming a nearly continuous built-up area with Pool and Redruth to the east. The town grew with the tin and copper industry, and on a map its streets reflect that growth: rows of terraced housing radiating from the centre, older mining lanes, and the railway line and A30 running roughly parallel across the landscape.
Mining shaped both the town and its reputation. The surrounding landscape is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site, and Camborne is closely linked with Richard Trevithick, whose steam road locomotive climbed Camborne Hill in 1801. The Camborne School of Mines also carried the town's name around the world.
A Camborne map poster brings together the dense residential core, the scattered traces of old workings and the high ground of Carn Brea to the east. North of the town the land runs out to the Atlantic coast, giving the composition a clear edge and a sense of how close industry and open sea sit in this part of Cornwall.
Long rows of terraced houses built during the mining era give the town its close-knit street pattern, with lanes running across the slopes in tight parallel lines.
The granite hill between Camborne and Redruth rises east of the town, shown as open high ground surrounded by the spread of settlement below.
The main railway line and the A30 cross the area on roughly parallel routes, framing the town and connecting it to the rest of Cornwall.

Aiheā Camborne
Camborne means a lot to people with mining families, Camborne School of Mines graduates and anyone who grew up among its terraces. A map of the town is a restrained way to keep that heritage visible at home, whether you live nearby or far away.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a graduation year or a family name, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters are available on matte paper with an optional frame.
