Dalsingh Sarai sits in the Samastipur district of Bihar, on the wide alluvial plain north of the Ganges. From above, the town is compact. A railway line cuts through it, a handful of roads meet near its centre, and beyond them the built area quickly gives way to fields, ponds and the small clustered settlements typical of this part of north Bihar.
The ground here is almost perfectly level, which shows clearly in the linework. Roads run in long, fairly straight stretches between villages, and field boundaries and water tanks break up the open space around them. There are no hills or coastlines to organise the map. Its structure comes from the railway, the roads, and the dense knot of lanes around the market streets.
A Dalsingh Sarai map poster keeps that simple arrangement and removes everything else. The station area, the lanes around the bazaar and the roads heading out to neighbouring villages all read clearly in black on white. For anyone who grew up here or has family in the district, it is a quiet and exact record of a place that seldom appears on a printed map.
The railway running through town is the strongest single line on the map, a firm stroke across the plain with the station area forming a small node of streets around it.
Near the centre the streets tighten into a dense cluster of short, irregular lanes, the commercial heart of the town and the darkest part of the poster.
Around the town the Gangetic plain opens into fields and ponds, leaving generous white space broken only by village roads and scattered settlements.

People hang this map because it shows home at the right scale: the station, the market and the roads out to the villages, with nothing added. It suits a family home, a gift for someone who has moved away, or a reminder of where a family story began.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, add a date or the coordinates line, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper are available with an optional wooden frame.
