Te mape
Depew is a village in Erie County, a short distance east of Buffalo, and it owes its existence to the railroad. It was laid out in the 1890s around new locomotive shops of the New York Central and named after Chauncey Depew, the railroad's president. On a map the tracks still run through the heart of the village, and the surrounding streets form a regular grid planned for the workers and their families.
Unusually, the village straddles a town line, lying partly in Cheektowaga and partly in Lancaster. That division is invisible from the street but helps explain the variety in the layout, as older blocks near the railroad meet later suburban developments further out. Cayuga Creek and small green spaces add a few curves to what is otherwise a largely right-angled plan.
Rail is still part of daily life, with the Buffalo-Depew Amtrak station serving trains on the Empire Corridor. A Depew map poster brings all of this together: the rail lines, the grid and the edges where village meets suburb. It is a natural choice for rail enthusiasts, long-time residents and anyone with family roots in the industrial history of western New York.

A regular pattern of residential blocks near the tracks reflects the planned village built for railroad employees at the end of the nineteenth century.
