East Amherst is a residential community in the northeastern part of the Town of Amherst, in Erie County, New York, within the wider Buffalo area. From above it is a textbook example of late twentieth-century American suburbia: winding drives, crescent streets and cul-de-sacs arranged in neighbourhood pockets, each opening onto a handful of main roads laid out on an older rural grid.
Transit Road runs along the eastern side of the area, a long straight line that anchors the map and separates Amherst from neighbouring Clarence.
