East Gwillimbury is a town in York Region, Ontario, directly north of Newmarket. It is not a single built-up centre but a collection of communities, including Holland Landing, Queensville, Sharon and Mount Albert, spread across farmland and woodland. On the map, the old survey grid of concession roads and sideroads holds them all together.
The Holland River runs along the western side of the town toward Lake Simcoe, with the flat, drained fields of the Holland Marsh nearby. In Sharon, the Sharon Temple, built by a Quaker offshoot called the Children of Peace in the early nineteenth century, is still the best-known landmark. Newer subdivisions add curving crescents at the edges of the older villages.
An East Gwillimbury map poster is about pattern at a large scale. Long straight roads divide the land into rectangles, the river cuts across at an angle, and the villages appear as small clusters of detail. It is a thoughtful choice for people who know the area, and a good example of the Ontario landscape drawn in black and white.

The river winds north toward Lake Simcoe along the western edge of the town. It is the main natural line cutting across the grid.
Holland Landing, Queensville, Sharon and Mount Albert each appear as their own knot of streets, including the newer crescents added to the older centres.

For families in York Region, a map of East Gwillimbury shows how the town's villages fit together, which is hard to see from the road. The strong grid and meandering river make a handsome print for a family room or cottage wall.
