Valley-following streets
Rather than a flat grid, the streets curve along the valley bottoms and lower slopes. The result is an organic, branching pattern that looks quite different from the planned towns of the Brazilian interior.

Espera Feliz lies in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, near the border with Espírito Santo. The name translates roughly as happy waiting or hopeful expectation, which is an unusual name for a Brazilian town. On a map its streets follow the terrain rather than a strict grid. They bend along valley floors and climb the lower slopes of the hills around it.
This is mountainous coffee country, and the town is not far from the Serra do Caparaó, where Pico da Bandeira, one of Brazil's highest peaks, rises on the state line. The uneven terrain shapes the urban plan. Built-up areas stretch out in bands where the land allows, and the steeper ground stays mostly empty on the map.
An Espera Feliz map poster records that irregular footprint in fine lines: a central area where the streets come together, branches that follow the valleys, and roads heading off toward farms and neighbouring towns. It is a small place, and the poster shows it plainly, as a pattern of streets shaped by the hills around them.
Rather than a flat grid, the streets curve along the valley bottoms and lower slopes. The result is an organic, branching pattern that looks quite different from the planned towns of the Brazilian interior.
The town sits in the wider foothills of the Serra do Caparaó, the mountain range on the Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo border that includes Pico da Bandeira.
Espera Feliz means something like happy waiting. The name works well as a poster title, and many people keep it as the main line and add a personal subtitle underneath.

Aiheā Espera Feliz
The name alone makes this map a thoughtful gift, and the hilly street pattern gives it a shape you won't see on other posters. It suits people whose families come from the Zona da Mata, and anyone who remembers the coffee hills near the Caparaó.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or the year someone left or came back. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the frame and the wall.
