A town strung along the Murg, its streets pressed into a narrow valley between wooded slopes of the northern Black Forest.

Gaggenau follows the Murg as the river leaves the northern Black Forest and heads toward the Rhine plain. From above, the town reads as a long ribbon: a main road and a railway line tracing the valley floor, with side streets climbing briefly into the hills before the forest takes over. The contrast between dense lines below and empty wooded space above gives the map a strong vertical rhythm.
Industry shaped this valley for centuries. An ironworks founded here in the late seventeenth century eventually gave its name to the Gaggenau appliance brand, and a large Mercedes-Benz plant still occupies a broad stretch of flat land beside the river. On paper these sites appear as wide, simple blocks set against the finer grain of residential streets and older village cores.
Several former villages now belong to the town, each with its own small cluster of lanes along the valley or on a side stream, including the spa district of Bad Rotenfels. A Gaggenau map poster captures how these settlements link up along a single river corridor, a shape that feels very different from towns that grew outward in rings.
The river runs through the length of town, and nearly every major road and the railway follow its course, giving the map one clear spine from south to north.
Dense Black Forest woodland rises on both sides of the valley, leaving large quiet areas on the map that frame the built-up strip and emphasise its narrowness.
The Mercedes-Benz works fill a wide section of valley floor, their large rectangular halls and yard roads standing out against the smaller residential blocks around them.

People who grew up in the Murg valley, worked at one of its plants or walked the forest trails above town often want a map that shows how tightly everything sits along the river. It suits a hallway or study, where its long, narrow form reads well from a distance.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a family name or the year you moved here, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The digital files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
