Hinthada Map Poster & Print
Hinthada, once known as Henzada, is one of the main towns of Myanmar's Ayeyarwady Region, on the west bank of the Irrawaddy in the upper delta. The land is low and level. The town stretches along the river in a long band, with streets running parallel to the bank and cross streets leading inland to the rice fields.
The river floods seasonally, so earth embankments line the waterfront and define the town's edge. On a map they appear as long, continuous lines between the built-up area and the channel. Beyond them the delta opens into a flat mosaic of paddy fields, creeks and villages. Hinthada also has a university and serves as the market centre for the surrounding district.
