Islip is a hamlet on the South Shore of Long Island, in the Town of Islip in Suffolk County. On a map, its streets run in long north-south lines down to the Great South Bay, with creeks, canals and marinas cutting into the shoreline. Montauk Highway crosses the hamlet from east to west, and the Long Island Rail Road runs parallel to it a little further north.
The bay dominates the landscape. Its shallow waters, sheltered by the barrier beaches of Fire Island, have long been used for boating and fishing, and the shoreline is lined with inlets and docks. The Town of Islip, which takes its name from the hamlet, is much larger and includes Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. The hamlet itself keeps a quieter residential character.
An Islip map poster shows the rhythm of streets running to the water and the fine edge of the shoreline where land and bay meet. The large expanse of the Great South Bay gives the composition plenty of space. It is an attractive map for anyone who grew up near the water or who spends summers on the South Shore.
The wide, shallow bay fills the southern part of the map, with the barrier beaches of Fire Island visible in the distance across the open water.
Small creeks and dug canals cut into the shoreline, creating a finely toothed edge where houses and boat docks line the water.
The main east-west road runs through the hamlet, forming a strong horizontal line that crosses the long streets heading south toward the bay.

Aiheā Islip
Islip is a place tied to the water, to summers on the bay and to family homes that are passed down through generations. A map of it suits a beach house, a family room or a gift for someone leaving Long Island.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can carry your street, a boat name or an important date. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint pairs naturally with the bay.
