Te mape
Jaleshwar lies in Balasore district, in the far north of Odisha, a short distance from the West Bengal border. Around it the land is almost completely flat: rice fields, ponds and villages spread across the coastal plain. On a map the town is a dense cluster set into a wide, fine pattern of field boundaries and water tanks.
Two main transport lines shape the town. The railway between Howrah and the south runs through it with a station, and the national highway toward Kolkata passes close by. The streets form a compact grid with no fixed plan around the station and bazaar. Beyond that edge the roads thin out quickly into rural lanes. The Subarnarekha river runs through the countryside nearby on its way to the Bay of Bengal.
A Jaleshwar map poster is mostly about texture. There is the tight knot of the town centre, straight rail and road lines cutting through, and small ponds scattered over the plain like punctuation. The composition is modest and honest. It shows a working town that has grown from a crossing point between Odisha and Bengal.
The main line along the east coast crosses the town. It is a firm straight stroke across the sheet, with the station area marking where the densest streets begin.
Around the bazaar and station the streets pack together in an irregular mesh. It is the darkest, busiest part of the map, surrounded by open fields.
The plain around Jaleshwar is dotted with water tanks and divided into small plots. On the poster this gives a quiet, even pattern that frames the town.

Aiheā Jaleshwar
Jaleshwar is a place people come from more often than a place they visit. A map of it suits a home far away: in Bhubaneswar, Kolkata or abroad. It shows the station, the bazaar and the roads out to the villages.
