Jiayu Pass fortress
The Ming fort sits southwest of the city with its square walls and gate towers. From here the Great Wall ran off towards the mountains, and the site is still one of the best-known points on the old frontier.

Te mape
Jiayuguan sits in a narrow strip of flat land in Gansu's Hexi Corridor. The snow-capped Qilian Mountains rise to the south and the lower Black Mountains to the north. On a map the city looks tidy and deliberate: a grid of wide boulevards and large rectangular blocks. Past the last streets there is very little except gravel plain.
The city's name comes from Jiayu Pass. This Ming-dynasty fortress stands at the western end of the Ming Great Wall, and for centuries it controlled the route between China and Central Asia along the Silk Road. The modern city grew up in the twentieth century around a large iron and steel works, which explains its orderly, planned layout.
A Jiayuguan map poster shows a place defined by its edges. The city is a sharp rectangle of streets, with rail lines and industrial land on its outskirts. The fortress and wall fragments lie to the west. Around all of it is open desert, and in a minimalist print that emptiness is part of the design.
The Ming fort sits southwest of the city with its square walls and gate towers. From here the Great Wall ran off towards the mountains, and the site is still one of the best-known points on the old frontier.
Jiayuguan was laid out mostly in the industrial era. Its broad, straight avenues and large blocks make a clear, geometric pattern that prints cleanly in every style.
The city lies in the gap between the Qilian and Black Mountains. That position once made the pass strategically important, and the valley still gives the whole map its east-west direction.

Aiheā Jiayuguan
Jiayuguan appeals to travellers who have followed the Silk Road, and to anyone drawn to frontier places. It suits a room that calls for clear lines and a lot of open space. The map joins a strict modern grid to one of the most historic passes in China.
Change the title, add a subtitle or a date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Blueprint suits the planned streets. Sand brings out the desert that surrounds them. Classic black & white, Noir and Paper are also available.
