The Tojo Line spine
The railway cuts a clean diagonal across the map, and the station area forms the busiest knot of streets. Almost every lane in town eventually leads back towards it.

Kamifukuoka sits in southern Saitama, on the flat plain that spreads northwest of Tokyo. From above, the town is organised around the Tobu Tojo Line: the station is the centre, and short lanes and low-rise housing spread out from it in every direction. The streets are fine and irregular, typical of a Kanto suburb that grew in stages rather than to a single plan.
In 2005 Kamifukuoka merged with the neighbouring town of Oi to form the city of Fujimino, and many people still use the old name for the area around the station. The map shows why the town has always depended on the railway. Large blocks of postwar apartment housing sit among older lanes, and the texture thins out towards the low, open land on the eastern side.
A Kamifukuoka map poster reduces all of this to line and space. Tight clusters of housing sit beside the long straight stroke of the railway, and farmland and open ground break up the pattern towards the edges. It is a modest, intricate subject, and its detail holds up well at larger print sizes, where every narrow lane stays readable.
The railway cuts a clean diagonal across the map, and the station area forms the busiest knot of streets. Almost every lane in town eventually leads back towards it.
Large apartment estates show up as regular rows of rectangles. Their order stands out clearly against the finer, more improvised lanes of the older neighbourhoods around them.
Towards the east the street pattern opens out into flatter, emptier ground. The dense suburban grain fades into wide, quiet spaces on the page.

Aiheā Kamifukuoka
For people who grew up in Kamifukuoka or commuted from it into Tokyo, the map is a record of daily routes: the walk to the station, the local shops, the block of flats. It keeps the old town name on the wall, even though the municipality is now officially called Fujimino.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to add a move-in date or a family name. The map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Buy the $9 digital files in six sizes, or order a matte print, with an optional wooden frame.
