Kartārpur is a town in Jalandhar district in Indian Punjab, on the main road that links Jalandhar with Amritsar. Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru, founded it in the late sixteenth century, and the older quarter still grows outward from its religious centre. It is distinct from Kartarpur in Pakistan, which is associated with Guru Nanak.
On a map, the old town is a dense cluster of narrow, winding lanes, while newer areas follow straighter lines along the highway and the railway. Farmland surrounds the town on the flat Doaba plain, crossed by rural roads and irrigation channels. The contrast between the tightly packed core and the open fields gives the map clear edges.
In the region, Kartārpur is also known for furniture making, with workshops and showrooms along the main road. A Kartārpur map poster shows the town's structure plainly: the historic centre, the highway running through it and the fields beyond. It is a simple image of a place with deep roots in Sikh history.

The road and the railway between Jalandhar and Amritsar pass through town side by side. These two strong lines organise the newer districts.
Flat fields surround Kartārpur on every side, divided by field roads and channels. They give the poster a calm, open frame.

Aiheā Kartārpur
For Sikh families and people from the Doaba region, Kartārpur means more than its size suggests. A map of its streets makes a respectful gift, a reminder of home for those abroad, or a record of a visit to its gurdwaras.
