Kayamkulam lies on Kerala's coastal plain in Alappuzha district, close to the backwater lake that shares its name. The lake links into the network of lagoons and canals that runs behind the Arabian Sea shore. From above, the town is a mix of winding roads, dense clusters of houses and a lot of green, with water never far away on the western side.
The town has a long history as a trading centre and was once the seat of a small kingdom. Krishnapuram Palace, a Kerala-style palace nearby, is one of the area's well-known historic buildings. Kayamkulam also sits on the main coastal road and rail line, and those straighter routes cut through the older, more organic lanes.
A Kayamkulam map poster brings out that layering. There is the open shape of the lake, the fine branching lanes typical of Kerala towns, and the long straight lines of the highway and railway. It has a softer, more scattered texture than a gridded city, and that texture is what makes it distinctive on paper.
The backwater lake to the west forms a broad open area on the map. It connects to the canals and lagoons that run along this stretch of the Kerala coast.
The main highway and railway run through town roughly parallel to the coast, and they draw clean straight lines across a web of curving local roads.
Like much of central Kerala, the town spreads out in small lanes and house plots mixed with greenery instead of forming compact blocks, so the print has a fine, even texture.

Aiheā Kayamkulam
Many people from Kayamkulam now live in the Gulf, Europe or elsewhere in India, and a map of the town is a simple, personal thing to hang far from home. It also makes a thoughtful gift for weddings and housewarmings.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be changed, so the poster can carry a family name, a date or a line in Malayalam transliteration. You can choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
