Ksour Essaf sits in the Tunisian Sahel, in the Mahdia Governorate, a few kilometres back from the Mediterranean coast. On a map the town is a tight knot of streets surrounded by open agricultural land. Roads lead out from it towards the coast and towards the neighbouring towns of the governorate.
