Te mape
Kyaukse lies in the Mandalay Region of central Myanmar, on the plain south of Mandalay where the Shan hills begin to rise to the east. The area is one of the oldest irrigated landscapes in the country. Historians consider it an early farming heartland that helped support the kingdom of Pagan.
From above, the town sits inside a flat network of canals, channels and rice fields. The main road and the railway between Mandalay and Yangon pass through on a north–south line. The densest streets gather around them, then loosen into villages, monasteries and farm plots on every side.
A Kyaukse map poster brings out the geometry of this farmland, with irrigation lines crossing the countryside in long, patient strokes. The town is also known for its yearly elephant dance festival, in which teams perform inside large elephant costumes. The tradition draws visitors from across Myanmar.
Canals and channels spread across the plain in thin, precise lines. They give the land around the town its distinctive structure and texture.
The main road and the railway run through Kyaukse on a clear axis. They form the spine of the map, and the town's commercial streets line up along it.
To the east the ground starts to rise toward the Shan hills. There the flat fields give way to more irregular contours and scattered settlements.

Aiheā Kyaukse
For people from Kyaukse or the wider Mandalay Region, this map shows the land that once fed a kingdom and still feeds its communities. It is an understated way to keep a hometown close, whether you live nearby or far away.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can hold a family name or the year of a favourite festival. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the warm tones of the dry plain, and a framed printed poster can be shipped to many countries.
