La Paz is a town in the north-west of Entre Ríos province, on the eastern bank of the Paraná River. It stands on the high bluffs, known locally as barrancas, that rise above the river along much of this stretch. The contrast between high ground and the wide, braided river below defines how the town looks on a map.
