Lakeland is named for its water, and from above the lakes are what stands out. Dozens of small, mostly round lakes are scattered across the city, and the street grid bends around each one. Downtown sits between Lake Mirror and Lake Morton, and larger bodies of water such as Lake Hollingsworth sit to the south.
