Las Piñas sits at the southern edge of Metro Manila, reaching from the coast of Manila Bay inland toward rising ground. On a map, it is long and relatively narrow, with main roads running across it and residential subdivisions filling the spaces between. Rivers flow toward the bay, and the street network becomes more winding as it moves away from the coast.
Along the coast, the Las Piñas–Parañaque wetland area protects mangroves and mudflats, which are an important stop for migratory birds. It appears as open, green space against the edge of the bay, among the few large natural areas left in the capital region.
The city is best known for its Bamboo Organ, built in the early nineteenth century by the Spanish priest Diego Cera, with most of its pipes made from bamboo. It is still played in St. Joseph Parish Church. A Las Piñas map poster shows the coastline, the long roads and the closely packed neighbourhoods of the southern metro.
The western edge of the city meets the bay, where wetlands and mangroves form a protected area among the coastal roads.
Long main roads run through the city, carrying traffic between Manila, Cavite and the south, and forming the backbone of the map.
Enclosed residential subdivisions, each with its own curving streets, fill much of the inland area and create a detailed mosaic on paper.
