Lerik Map Poster & Print
Lerik is the administrative centre of Lerik District in southern Azerbaijan, high in the Talysh Mountains near the border with Iran. The terrain is steep and folded. On a map the town is a compact settlement whose roads wind along the contours rather than running straight, with villages scattered across the ridges and valleys around it.
The district is best known for the long lives of its inhabitants, and Lerik has a museum dedicated to the region's long-lived people. The landscape around it mixes forested slopes, pastures and terraced fields. It is a very different Azerbaijan from the flat Caspian coast, which lies a short drive to the east.
