Maplewood is a first-ring suburb in Ramsey County, Minnesota, wrapping around the north and east sides of Saint Paul. From above it is a patchwork of water and green space. Small lakes and ponds are scattered across the city, wetlands and nature preserves lie between neighbourhoods, and residential streets bend around them instead of following a strict grid.
