Maracanã lies in northeastern Pará, in the coastal region known as the Salgado, where rivers meet the Atlantic through wide tidal estuaries fringed with mangroves. The town itself is compact, a modest set of streets on a riverbank, while the surrounding map is dominated by water: branching channels, creeks and low wetland that change with the tide.
The municipality includes part of the island of Algodoal-Maiandeua, known for its beaches, dunes and car-free villages, which draws visitors from Belém and the rest of the state. Fishing and gathering in the mangroves have long been central to local life, and many journeys here still involve a boat as much as a road.
A Maracanã map poster is less about streets than about the meeting of land and water. The town is a small, dense cluster; everything around it is a fine tracery of channels cutting through the coast. In monochrome this becomes an almost abstract pattern, closer to a drawing of veins than to a conventional town plan.
Rivers and creeks branch repeatedly through the low coastal land, creating an intricate network of water lines that fills most of the frame around the town.
Broad belts of mangrove line the estuaries, soft, irregular zones between open water and the few firmer patches of settled ground.
The streets of the town form a small, orderly group on the riverbank, a clear point of human structure within the surrounding maze of water.

Aiheā Maracanã
For families from the Salgado coast and for visitors who crossed to Algodoal, this map brings back tides, boat rides and long beaches. It is also simply a striking image, a place where the map is drawn mostly by water.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a family name, a trip date or the coordinates, and choose among Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the coastal light, while Noir turns the channels into bright lines on a dark ground.
