Massapequa lies on the South Shore of Long Island in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County. From above, it is a textbook postwar suburb: long parallel streets, regular blocks of single-family houses, and main roads such as Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road cutting across from east to west, with the Long Island Rail Road running alongside.
South of Merrick Road the pattern changes. Residential canals reach inland from South Oyster Bay, and streets become narrow peninsulas with houses backing onto the water. Beyond them lie marshes and barrier islands facing the Atlantic. Running north to south through the community, the Massapequa Preserve protects a green corridor of streams, ponds and woodland.
The Baldwin acting brothers grew up here, and the community is familiar to anyone who has driven the Southern State Parkway or Sunrise Highway. A Massapequa map poster shows the full sweep from the orderly northern blocks to the watery comb of canals in the south, one of the most graphic shorelines on Long Island.
South of Merrick Road, dredged canals divide the land into slender peninsulas lined with docks and homes, forming a striking comb pattern along the bay.
A long green corridor of ponds, streams and woodland runs through the community from north to south, breaking the suburban grid with a softer natural line.
Sunrise Highway and the Babylon Branch railway run side by side across town, forming a strong east–west axis between the northern and southern neighbourhoods.

Aiheā Massapequa
Long Islanders tend to identify strongly with their home town, and Massapequa is no exception. A map with your street, the year you bought the house, or your graduating class in the subtitle makes a warm gift for family or old friends.
The canals look especially sharp in Blueprint or Noir, with Classic black & white, Paper and Sand as alternatives. Download six HD sizes, including 18×24 and 24×36 inches, for $9, or order a matte printed poster with a wooden frame.
