Mogán is a municipality in the southwest of Gran Canaria, reaching from the mountainous interior down to a sheltered, sunny coastline. Its geography is dominated by barrancos, deep ravines that cut from the island's centre to the sea. The old village of Mogán sits inland in one of these valleys, while most residents and visitors are found along the coast.
Puerto de Mogán is the best-known spot: a small harbour with a marina and short canals crossed by footbridges, often called Little Venice. Further east lie Puerto Rico, Arguineguín and other resorts, each filling the mouth of its own ravine. On the map they appear as dense pockets of streets pressed between steep slopes and the Atlantic.
