Mporokoso is the administrative centre of a district in Zambia's Northern Province, in plateau country to the west of Kasama. On the map the town has a modest footprint: a cluster of streets around offices, a market, schools and a hospital, with a few roads striking out across the surrounding land. Beyond the edge of town the pattern loosens almost at once into tracks and scattered homesteads.
The land around it is typical of the northern plateau. Wide stretches of woodland are broken by dambos, the shallow seasonal wetlands that stay green long after the rains, and by small streams draining toward larger rivers. From above these appear as soft, branching gaps in the tree cover, giving the map a pattern that feels organic rather than planned.
The wider district is known for waterfalls on the Kalungwishi River, which draw visitors to this otherwise quiet corner of the country. A Mporokoso map poster keeps the focus on the town itself: a small, clear knot of streets and the long roads that tie it to the rest of the north.
The core of Mporokoso is small enough to read at a glance, a short grid of streets around public buildings that sits clearly within the surrounding open land.
A few roads leave town in different directions and run almost straight across the plateau, linking Mporokoso with neighbouring districts and giving the composition strong outward lines.
Seasonal wetlands thread through the woodland around the town. On the map they form pale, branching shapes that follow the gentle slope of the land.

This map suits someone who worked, taught or grew up in northern Zambia and wants a quiet reminder of a place rarely seen on a wall. Its sparse layout reads almost like a drawing, with the town as a single point of density.
