From above, Nalhāti is organised by its railway. The main line through Birbhum passes through the town, and a branch line leaves it heading east, so the tracks form a fork. The streets gather close to that fork, and the built-up area thins out quickly into fields. On a black-and-white print the rails read as the clearest lines on the sheet, cutting straight through a much looser pattern of lanes.
Around the centre, the map breaks up into small rectangles of rice fields, scattered village clusters and many ponds, shown as small dark shapes. The land in this part of western West Bengal rises gently toward the Chotanagpur edge, and the road pattern shows that shift: the roads stay fairly straight but branch out at odd angles, following old paths between settlements more than any planned grid.
Nalhāti is best known for the Nalateshwari temple, a Shakti Peetha that draws pilgrims from across Bengal, and the town's lanes lead up toward it on a small hill. A Nalhāti map poster shows the everyday layout that pilgrims and commuters move through: the junction, the bazaar streets near the station and the fields that begin almost as soon as the houses end.
The main line and the branch toward the east separate at Nalhāti, and on the map that split is the town's strongest shape, a set of fine converging lines running through everything else.
The Nalateshwari temple stands on raised ground at the edge of town, and the lanes climbing to it bend and narrow compared with the straighter roads near the station.
Water tanks of every size are scattered among the fields around the town, and in the Noir style they show up as small bright shapes against a dark ground.

Aiheā Nalhāti
People who grew up near the junction, or who made the trip to the temple, tend to recognise the fork of the tracks at once. It's a modest map, and that's part of its appeal: it shows the real layout of the place, drawn cleanly, without landmarks added for effect.
You can change the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, so the poster can carry a family name, a wedding date or the year you left. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room it will hang in.
