Te mape
Namp’o lies on the west coast of North Korea at the mouth of the Taedong River, downstream from Pyongyang, and serves as the capital's main seaport. The city occupies the north bank of the estuary, with harbour basins along the water and a built-up area that rises gently inland. On a map the river widens dramatically as it approaches the sea.
Its most striking feature from above is the West Sea Barrage, a dam about eight kilometres long, completed in the 1980s across the estuary, with locks for shipping and a road along its top. It was built to hold back the tides and store fresh water for irrigation. The coastline around the city is intricate, with inlets, tidal flats and reclaimed land.
A Namp’o map poster is largely about water: a broad estuary, a long straight barrage across it and a city arranged along the northern shore. It is an unusual and graphic composition, with more open surface than street, and the single line of the dam gives it a striking focal point.

The river widens into a broad estuary as it approaches the sea, leaving a large open field of water at the heart of the map.
Port basins and piers line the city's waterfront, angular shapes that contrast with the smoother outline of the natural shore.

Aiheā Namp’o
Namp’o appeals to people interested in coastlines, engineering and places rarely seen, as well as to those with a family connection to the region. The map is graphic and spare, closer to a technical drawing than a travel image.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the barrage and harbour lines especially well, and every digital file comes without a watermark.
