Nepean was a city in its own right until 2001, when it was amalgamated into Ottawa, and many residents still use the name. On a map it covers a broad swath of the capital's west and south-west. Post-war neighbourhoods there give way to later subdivisions of looping crescents, cul-de-sacs and collector roads.
The National Capital Greenbelt passes through the area as a wide band of forest, farmland and trails, separating the inner suburbs from Barrhaven and other communities further out. The Rideau River forms the eastern edge, and major routes such as Highway 416 and the Queensway cut clean lines through the residential pattern.
The name comes from Sir Evan Nepean, a British official of the late eighteenth century, and dates from the township's early days. A Nepean map poster suits the suburb's calm geometry: the soft curves of its streets against the open green of the Greenbelt and the long line of the river, with the older grid of central Ottawa just visible at the edge.
A broad band of fields and woodland runs across the area. On the poster it leaves a striking open space between the older neighbourhoods and the outer suburbs.
Later neighbourhoods are built around looping crescents and cul-de-sacs, creating a soft, almost organic street pattern that differs sharply from Ottawa's older grid.
Along the eastern side, the river bends gently southward, and its parks and green banks mark a clear natural boundary.

For families who raised children in Nepean or bought a first home in Barrhaven, the map is a portrait of daily life: the school, the park, the commute. It suits a housewarming, or a move away from Ottawa.
You can title the poster with a neighbourhood name, add a move-in date below it and adjust the coordinates line. Five styles are on offer, including the technical Blueprint and the warm Sand, and prints come in sizes such as 18×24″ and 24×36″.
