Neu-Ulm sits on the right bank of the Danube, directly opposite Ulm, which is in Baden-Württemberg. The river is a state border here, and from above the two cities read as one urban area split by a band of water and joined by a series of bridges. The spire of Ulm Minster, the tallest church tower in the world, rises just across the river from Neu-Ulm's riverside.
The town grew largely in the nineteenth century as part of the Federal Fortress of Ulm, a huge defensive system that spanned both banks. Sections of its walls and bastions survive in Neu-Ulm, and the green spaces laid out along them, including the Glacis park, still trace the old line of fortification. South of the centre, the Iller flows into the Danube.
A Neu-Ulm map poster frames the Danube and the cities on either side in one composition. The curve of the fortress greenbelt, the bridges and the more regular grid of the newer town make a well-balanced print. It is a thoughtful choice for anyone who has lived on this side of the river and crossed it daily.
The river runs across the map as a wide band, with bridges stitching Neu-Ulm to Ulm and marking a boundary between two German states.
Parks such as the Glacis follow the angled line of the nineteenth-century fortifications, drawing a distinctive green arc around the older town centre.
To the south, the Iller joins the Danube, and the meeting of the two rivers adds branching water shapes to the edge of the city.

Aiheā Neu-Ulm
Neu-Ulm is often thought of as Ulm's neighbour, but people who live there know it has its own streets and history. A map puts that side of the river at the centre, with the Minster city across the water as a backdrop, and it looks equally at home in a flat or an office.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a street name or the year you moved. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters on matte paper, framed if you like, ship from print partners in over 30 countries.
