North Decatur is a census-designated place in DeKalb County, Georgia, just north of the city of Decatur and east of Atlanta. It has no formal downtown; instead the map shows a patchwork of mid-century residential subdivisions, their streets curving around hills and creek valleys, joined by a few busier roads that carry traffic toward Decatur, Emory and the interstates.
The area sits close to Emory University, and many residents work at the university, its hospitals or the nearby Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
