Pauri is the administrative centre of the Pauri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand, spread along a high ridge at well over a thousand five hundred metres. There is no grid here. On a map the town is a set of roads following the contours, doubling back in tight hairpins, with buildings stacked in bands along the slope and footpaths cutting straight down between the loops.
Its setting is the reason people know the town: on clear days Pauri looks out across deep valleys toward the snow peaks of the Garhwal Himalaya. The Kandoliya temple sits in a wooded patch above the town. Below, terraced fields and scattered villages cling to the hillsides, joined to Pauri by narrow roads that trace every ridge and gully.
A Pauri map poster turns the mountain into line work. Switchbacks become a rhythmic pattern, contour-hugging streets draw the shape of the ridge without a single elevation line, and the empty spaces between them hint at the steepness. It is a very different picture from a plains city, and for anyone who knows Garhwal, instantly recognisable.
The approach roads fold into repeated hairpin bends as they climb to the ridge, forming the most distinctive pattern on the map and outlining the slope itself.
Pauri's buildings line the ridge in long, narrow bands rather than blocks, so the town's shape follows the mountain instead of any planned grid.
Above the town, the forested area around the Kandoliya temple leaves an open, quiet space on the map, framed by the roads that circle below it.

Aiheā Pauri
Many families from Pauri Garhwal now live far from the hills, in Dehradun, Delhi or abroad. A map of the ridge and its winding roads is a restrained way to keep the mountain town present at home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a village name, a family surname or a date that matters. Then choose from five styles, including Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as a digital file or a printed poster.
