Creeks and marshes
Tidal channels wind through the flat land south of the town. They split and rejoin in delicate curves that give the lower part of the map its character.

Pitsea forms the eastern part of Basildon in Essex, and its map sits on the boundary between town and estuary. To the north lie housing estates and the post-war new town streets. To the south, the land gives way to creeks, marshes and flat open land draining toward the Thames. The c2c railway and the A13 cross the area from east to west and tie it together.
Pitsea station is a junction where two routes from London meet before continuing east toward Southend. On the southern side, Wat Tyler Country Park occupies former industrial land beside the creeks, and nearby Bowers Marsh is managed as a wetland reserve. Above the old village, a church tower on a small hill looks out over the marshes.
A Pitsea map poster brings out that contrast strongly. The estates and roads are dense and angular, while the creeks draw long, winding lines across the bottom of the frame and branch out into the marsh. It is one of the most varied layouts in south Essex, and it rewards a larger print size.

Two railway lines meet at Pitsea station in a clear Y-shape on the map. It marks the town's role in connecting Basildon and the estuary villages with London.
Green space along the creeks on former industrial ground. Its paths and water edges soften the change from built-up streets to open marsh.

Aiheā Pitsea
Pitsea sits in a landscape that surprises people who only know it from the train window. A map shows the full picture, from new town estates to the estuary, and makes a meaningful gift for anyone raised in Basildon.
