Plumstead lies in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, between Woolwich to the west and the marshland stretches that became Thamesmead to the north. On a map the district reads as a gradient. Tight Victorian terraces fill the lower ground near the railway, and the street pattern loosens as it climbs the hill toward the green spaces on the ridge.
The commons are the defining shapes. Plumstead Common and its neighbouring open land form irregular pale patches among the housing, their edges set by old footpaths and roads rather than by any planned grid. Below them, the North Kent railway line cuts an east–west stroke through the district, and the streets either run parallel to it or climb away from it at steep angles.
Plumstead also has a footnote in football history: the club that became Arsenal played its home games here before it moved to north London in 1913. A Plumstead map poster captures that older London of terraces, hillside roads and common land, drawn in fine lines that show exactly how the neighbourhood sits between the river flats and the high ground.
Plumstead Common and the open land beside it appear as broad, irregular spaces on the upper slope, framed by winding roads and bordered by rows of houses.
The North Kent line runs east to west across the lower district. It is a clean horizontal stroke that separates the terraces near the river from the streets climbing the hill.
Close rows of Victorian terraced streets fill the lower ground. Their dense parallel lines contrast with the more open, irregular pattern higher up.

Aiheā Plumstead
A Plumstead poster suits anyone who grew up on these slopes, walked the commons, or rented a first flat near the station. It is a quiet, specific piece of southeast London that rarely shows up on souvenir shelves.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a street name, a year or a family surname, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room.
