Puttūr is a town in southern Andhra Pradesh, a short distance from Tirupati, in country where plains meet low granite hills. From above, the town gathers around its main roads and a railway line, with residential lanes branching off and paddy fields and tanks surrounding the built-up area.
The town is widely known in South India for its tradition of bone-setting, which has drawn patients from far beyond the district for generations. It also lies on the rail corridor linking Chennai with the Tirupati area, and many travellers pass through it on the way to the temple town.
A Puttūr map poster shows a practical, well-connected town. The railway gives it a strong straight line, the main roads form a loose cross, and smaller streets fill the blocks between them. Beyond the centre, irregular field boundaries and water tanks add softer shapes, and nearby hills bring a subtle change of rhythm at the edges.
A railway line runs through the town and forms one of the straightest, most continuous lines on the map. It divides the street pattern and anchors the composition.
Main roads meet near the centre, where the street network is densest. From there, smaller lanes branch into residential areas, forming a clear focal point on the poster.
Around the town, irrigation tanks and field boundaries create rounded and irregular shapes. They soften the edges of the map and show the farming landscape the town depends on.
