Rājgīr lies in the Nalanda district of Bihar, in a valley enclosed by a ring of rocky hills. That enclosure gives the map its character: the town sits in a basin, roads funnel through the gaps between ridges, and the surrounding slopes stay largely empty of streets. Long before its present form, this was Rajagriha, an early capital of the kingdom of Magadha.
The site carries deep religious significance. The Buddha spent time here and taught on Gridhrakuta, the Vulture Peak, and the first Buddhist council is traditionally placed at the Saptaparni cave nearby. Rājgīr is also important in Jain tradition. Remains of the ancient cyclopean wall still run along the hills, and the Vishwa Shanti Stupa crowns Ratnagiri hill, reached by an aerial ropeway.
A Rājgīr map poster shows how landscape and settlement fit together: the compact town, the hot spring area, the paths climbing toward hilltop sites and the ridges closing the valley like a wall. It is a thoughtful choice for anyone who has made the pilgrimage circuit through Bihar, or who studies the early history of the subcontinent.
Five hills surround the valley, and on the map their slopes form a nearly closed ring, with roads squeezing through the few openings between them.
The Brahmakund hot springs sit at the foot of the hills near the town, a long-standing bathing site whose temple precinct appears as a dense cluster of paths.
The white Vishwa Shanti Stupa stands on Ratnagiri hill, and the paths and ropeway rising toward it give the hillside a clear focal point on the poster.

Aiheā Rājgīr
Rājgīr often means something personal: a pilgrimage, a study trip to nearby Nalanda, or a family connection to Bihar. A spare black-and-white map lets that meaning sit on the wall without ornament, where the circle of hills does most of the talking.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a date of visit, and a coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 in six print sizes, or order a printed poster shipped from a print partner.
