San-Pédro lies on the southwestern coast of Ivory Coast, facing the Gulf of Guinea. Its map is shaped by the meeting of sea and lagoon: a long Atlantic shoreline to the south, calmer inland water behind it, and the port basins that connect the two. The urban area spreads inland from the harbour, with neighbourhoods arranged along a few main roads that lead away from the coast.
The modern city grew quickly after its deep-water port opened in the early 1970s, and much of its layout reflects that planned beginning, with wider avenues around the port and denser, more informal streets further out. Green land presses in at the edges, and the line between built-up districts and the surrounding plantations and forest is clearly visible on the map.
San-Pédro is among the world's leading ports for cocoa exports, shipping beans grown across the country's southwest. That role explains the scale of its docks and warehouses, which stand out as crisp geometric shapes against the coastline. A San-Pédro map poster brings together the sea, the lagoon and a city built for trade, in a clean composition that reads well at any size.
Rectangular docks and quays cut into the shore, their straight edges marking the harbour that turned a small coastal settlement into a major export city.
A long line of beach runs along the south of the map, giving the poster a strong horizontal base against the open water of the Gulf of Guinea.
Behind the coast, sheltered water curves inland, softening the map with irregular shorelines that contrast with the planned streets around the port.
