Mount Abidar slopes
On the western side, streets end where the slopes of Abidar begin. That leaves a clean boundary on the poster, with winding roads leading up to the parkland and viewpoints above the city.

Sanandaj is the capital of Iran's Kurdistan Province and lies in a valley of the Zagros Mountains. On a map the city stretches along the valley floor, so its main avenues run lengthwise. Side streets reach up the surrounding slopes until the terrain stops them. Mount Abidar rises on the western side, and the city's edge is defined by where building gives way to steep ground.
The city took shape in the Safavid era as a fortified seat of the regional Ardalan rulers, and its older name, Sine, is still used locally. Sanandaj is known across Iran for its Kurdish culture, including music, handwoven carpets and the woodwork of the region. The historic bazaar and older mansions lie in the central quarters.
A Sanandaj map poster brings out the tension between a growing city and the landscape that contains it. Dense blocks fill the flat ground, and curving roads follow the contours as they climb. The empty spaces left by the mountains become part of the design. The result reads almost like a relief drawing, even though it shows only streets.
On the western side, streets end where the slopes of Abidar begin. That leaves a clean boundary on the poster, with winding roads leading up to the parkland and viewpoints above the city.
The main arteries run along the length of the valley and give the city a clear direction. Side streets branch off them at short intervals, like the ribs of a leaf.
Around the bazaar the street pattern turns irregular and compact. It is a reminder of the Safavid-era town from which modern Sanandaj grew outward.

Aiheā Sanandaj
The map suits anyone who grew up in Sanandaj or has roots in Iranian Kurdistan, and it works as a gift for relatives living abroad. The pull between valley and mountain makes it a striking wall piece even for people who have never been.
Add a personal title, a subtitle such as a year, and a coordinates line that you can adjust. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the slopes feel especially dramatic.
