Sandusky sits on the southern shore of Sandusky Bay, an inlet of Lake Erie in northern Ohio, roughly halfway between Toledo and Cleveland. On a map the city faces the water, with its downtown pressed against the bay and residential streets stretching south and west. Across the bay, a long, thin peninsula curves out into the lake.
That peninsula is home to Cedar Point, one of the best-known amusement parks in the United States and famous for its roller coasters. Downtown has its own curiosity: surveyor Hector Kilbourne, a Freemason, laid out the streets so that several diagonal avenues form the Masonic square and compass, a pattern that is still clearly visible from above around Washington Park.
A Sandusky map poster shows both sides of the city at once. The diagonal streets cut through the downtown grid in a way few American towns do, the bay spreads out as open water, and the peninsula and causeway draw a long, elegant curve along the lake. Ferries to the Lake Erie islands leave from the waterfront, adding to the sense of a town facing outward.

The narrow peninsula holding Cedar Point reaches out between the bay and Lake Erie, a slender strip of land connected to the mainland by a causeway.
The bay fills much of the poster with calm open water, framing the downtown waterfront and the piers where ferries head toward the Lake Erie islands.

Aiheā Sandusky
Sandusky means summer for many people, whether they worked a season at Cedar Point, took the ferry to the islands or grew up along the bay. A map of the city holds all of that in one frame, and the unusual street layout makes it a good conversation piece.
