Tarumizu is on the Ōsumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, along the eastern shore of Kagoshima Bay. From above, it is a long, thin town. Roads and houses follow a narrow strip of flat land between the water and steep, wooded hills, so the map stretches along the coast rather than spreading inland.
To the north lies Sakurajima, the active volcano that became joined to the Ōsumi Peninsula after its 1914 eruption, when lava filled the strait. On a map the bay and the volcano's shoreline make a dramatic frame. Small harbours, river mouths and terraced fields on the slopes add detail to the edge of the town.
Tarumizu has ferry links across the bay, and the coast road carries most traffic along the shore. A Tarumizu map poster shows the shape of the town between the mountains and the water, with Kagoshima Bay, the key feature of this part of Kyushu, filling a large part of the frame.
The town runs in a long, narrow band along the shore, squeezed between the waters of Kagoshima Bay and the hills behind.
The volcano's lava-formed coastline lies just north, and its broad shape across the bay gives the map a strong, recognisable landmark.
Steep hills rise directly behind the town, and valleys and small rivers cut down to the shore, shown as fine lines on the map.

Aiheā Tarumizu
Tarumizu's map is shaped by the sea, the hills and the volcano, which makes it an unusual and striking poster. It suits anyone from the Ōsumi Peninsula or anyone who has crossed Kagoshima Bay by ferry.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose one of five styles. Blueprint and Noir make the coastline stand out clearly. Digital files cost $9 in six sizes, and printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
