Tirukkalikkunram sits in the Chengalpattu area of Tamil Nadu, a short distance inland from the Coromandel coast and Mamallapuram. From above, the rocky hill at its centre sets the plan. Streets curve around its base, and the town grows outward in low, close blocks before giving way to fields, water tanks and scattered villages on the flat coastal plain.
The hill is crowned by the Vedagiriswarar temple, reached by a long flight of steps. The town is known for an old legend of two eagles that came to the summit at midday to be fed by the priests, which gave the place its reputation and its name. Down below, a second temple complex and a broad temple tank anchor the older streets.
A Tirukkalikkunram map poster turns this arrangement into a clear drawing: a knot of contour-like lanes around the hill, the rectangular geometry of the tank and temple walls, and a looser web of roads heading toward the coast and the highway corridors. In black and white, the relationship between sacred centre and everyday town is easy to read.
The rocky hill rises from the plain at the heart of town, and the surrounding streets bend to follow its base, so the hill reads as the fixed point of the whole map.
A large, clean-edged tank sits in the lower town beside the temple precinct, one of the few strict rectangles in an otherwise organic street pattern.
Country roads lead east toward Mamallapuram and the shoreline, crossing open fields and smaller tanks that show up as pale shapes against the fine road lines.

For pilgrims, families from the area and travellers who climbed the steps to the summit, this map holds a specific memory. The hill and tank make a composition that feels calm and centred, well suited to a hallway, a prayer corner or a study wall.
